Geology and geologic dating have undoubtedly intrigued most FORUM participants. Certainly the questions raised by this science have been pondered in physical science classes, elementary school through college and on into graduate school.

A major issue confronting Seventh-day Adventists is the endeavor to harmonize what the fossil record seems to say with what the Judeo-Christian heritage appears to proclaim as historical truth.

Dr. Lanny Fisk is Chairperson of the newly formed Department of Geological Sciences at Loma Linda University, La Sierra Campus. He has taught in the biology department at Walla Walla College, 1974-79.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Andrews University in 1971 followed by a Doctor of Philosophy degree, again in Biology, with emphasis in paleontology (fossils), from Loma Linda University in 1976. He is currently a candidate for a second Ph.D. degree in Geology, this time from Michigan State University.

He works as a consultant for several oil companies and spends considerable time "in the field". (When arrangements were first made for this FORUM presentation, he was "on location" in Oregon.)
